Storylines

The professional wrestling matches at WrestleMania 33 will feature professional wrestlers performing as characters in scripted events pre-determined by the hosting promotion, WWE.

Storylines between the characters played out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown.

On the July 27, 2009 episode of Raw, Shaquille O'Neal confronted Chris Jericho and Big Show, which led to O'Neal attacking Big Show. O'Neal was later a surprise entrant in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32.

He and Big Show went after each other, however the rest of the wrestlers eliminated both of them. At the 2016 ESPY Awards on the red carpet, Big Show and O'Neal had another brief confrontation.

A match was proposed, which O'Neal accepted.
