WWE News: New Logos for ‘Monday Night Raw’ and ‘SmackDown’ Revealed

The WWE has revealed two brand new logos for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.

The logos made their debut on the WWE’s official Twitter account on Friday afternoon, accompanied by new art of the general managers and commissioners of both shows together. Via the Twitter pages of Mick Foley and Daniel Bryan, here’s a better look at them:

Both logos are receiving mixed reactions from fans so far. Some are enjoying the minimalism, while others have complained about the W in Raw looking too much like an upside down M. The SmackDown Live logo has received a slightly better reception, however.

This is the first of what will likely be many changes to Raw and SmackDown Live following the WWE Draft. Prior to the brand extension event on July 19th, it was rumored that both programs would be getting new logos, theme songs, and even different colored ropes, with Raw‘s ropes being red and SmackDown Live‘s being blue. Now that one of these changes has already taken affect, we’ll have to keep a look out to see if the others will follow.

The fact that the logos are so different also has many viewers wondering just how distinct Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live will be going forward.

Both logos are in totally different styles, and now each program has its own exclusive roster with absolutely no crossover between the two, and so there exists plenty of opportunity for the WWE to have each one be quite a separate entity rather than SmackDown Live being the less important continuation of Raw.

The WWE universe was officially split during a live draft show on Tuesday, July 19th. During the program, early rumors that John Cena would become the new face of SmackDown were confirmed. Also headed over to that show are A.J. Styles, Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, Becky Lynch, Baron Corbin, and The Miz among others. The general manager will be Daniel Bryan.
