MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jerry Lawler may have been able to hold his own in the ring, but this time it was his car that took a major hit.
The WWE star tweeted a picture of his banged-up car, writing that he and his girlfriend Lauryn Laine McBride “were lucky things weren’t worse than they were last night. My car not so lucky.”WWE.com reported the accident happened when Lawler was driving home Saturday night.
“I got the green arrow to make a left turn,” he told the website. “I started making the turn and I saw the car coming, not slowing down at all. The driver ran a red light.”
Lawler told WWE.com he is alright, but McBride suffered injuries from the crash and had to go to the emergency room. She has a swollen face and needed a leg brace, and Lawler said she is showing symptoms of a concussion, but she is expected to recover
As noted, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler was involved in a head on collision on Halloween night, and despite Lawler’s girlfriend suffering injuries which will require her to use crutches, everyone involved in the crash will be ok.
WZ Daily regular Ryan Satin of ProWrestlingSheet.com is reporting that the driver of the car who crashed into Lawler’s car was not under the influence.
The report notes a rep for the Memphis Police Department tells Pro Wrestling Sheet the vehicle Jerry Lawler was riding in was hit on it’s right, front side — and all parties refused medical treatment at the scene.
Officers determined the other driver wasn’t under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and she was simply cited for running a red light. No further investigation will be taking place.
